AI literacy is the ability to understand what AI systems are, how they work at a basic level, what they can and cannot do, and how to use them thoughtfully and critically.

AI literacy does not require programming skills or technical expertise. It means being able to ask useful questions about AI systems: What was this trained on? What are its known limitations? Who is accountable for its outputs? Is this the right tool for this task?

AI literacy is increasingly relevant for anyone who uses AI tools in their work or daily life — not just technical specialists.
