A collection of related data organized in a structured format, typically as a table of rows and columns.

A dataset is a specific collection of data, usually focused on a particular subject or purpose. A dataset of Canadian postal codes, a dataset of weather station readings, or a dataset of business licences are all examples.

Datasets can be stored as CSV files, database tables, spreadsheets, or in many other formats. Open datasets are published by governments and institutions for public use.
