A spatial data format that represents geographic information as a grid of cells (pixels), each with a value.

Raster data is used for continuous phenomena like elevation, temperature, and satellite imagery. Each cell in the grid represents a specific area on the ground and stores a value (elevation in metres, temperature in degrees, etc.). Common raster formats include GeoTIFF and NetCDF. Raster data contrasts with vector data, which represents discrete features as points, lines, and polygons.
