North American Datum 1983 — the standard coordinate reference system for government spatial data in Canada and the United States.
NAD83 is the official datum for Canadian government geographic data. It is very close to WGS84 (differences are typically less than 1 metre) but not identical. The Statistics Canada Lambert projection (EPSG:3347) uses NAD83 as its datum and is commonly used for national-scale Canadian maps.
